Our Story
Where did Panoramic come from?

A few months ago we were having drinks (a pitcher of Magic Hat #9) on the patio of our favorite restaurant. Someone in the group got a tweet about a free concert with an 80's cover band going on a few blocks away.
We made Todd finish the pitcher and headed out. The concert was amazing and Todd even got the number of the blonde girl on keytar/vocals.

Next Friday we were back at the restaurant (dinner this time) and we started talking about the concert and how a random tweet led to plans for such a great evening (it was actually from Todd's older brother, who still dresses like it's 1985). Then it hit us. Twitter is flooded with tweets about lots of great stuff going on around us. We just never know about it unless we follow the "right" people. That sparked the idea for our app.

The app would follow all the "right" people on Twitter and organize the tweets by physical location. If a restaurant tweeted about an appetizer and drink special or a store was having a clearance sale, the app would show this information to users who were near that restaurant or store.

Since it was the tweet from Todd's brother that let us know about the concert, it was obvious that individual app users also needed a voice. There are already great apps for sharing stuff with friends (looking at you here Facebook), so we figured we should take a different approach. We wanted to let users post messages to inform and connect with the other people in and near their location. (It was really important to us to give people another reason to stare at their phones while in social situations)

After a few months, little sleep, and lots of coffee we had created Panoramic for the iPhone. We had also amassed a database of nearly a million locations across the United States and matched them to their twitter accounts (who knew McDonald's tweeted!).

Unfortunately, Todd never got together with the keytar player. He forgot that her number was on a scrap of paper in his pocket and threw his jeans in the wash. I know, sad right? If you want to make him feel better, download our app, rate it 5 stars and leave Todd a kind note in your comments. Thanks!!!
